Members present: Eric Elgin, Rob Bedeaux, Nikki Gilbertson, Melanie Faulhaber, Molly Myers, Angela Slaughter, Nick Lucca, Ashlee Miller

Meeting called to order 7:15 pm.

Secretary: Notes from the July meeting were reviewed. Elgin moved to approve the notes with edits. Lucca seconded. A vote was taken and the motion passed.

Level Updates: Slaughter noted that there will not be enough players to field a team for the fall for boys 10U.  Elgin would like to suggest giving a financial break to this level via an offer to attend a clinic for free based on hardship for the team in 2019. Slaughter noted that there was some concern with a 10U boys summer tournament that was cancelled last minute.  Staven Bruce relayed through Elgin that the 12U boys team seemed to have a relatively good experience for the summer program, but the team was rather large. The 14U boys team had issues with attendance for the summer team. The 14U Girls program did well over the summer with their combined team.

Fall Offerings:  For the Fall league, Minneapolis will field teams at the 14U and 12U boys levels with some kids from Hopkins and St. Paul joining the team.  Practices will be held at Bassett after clinics (which are offered to  both boys and girls), and boys high school players will help run practices.

Board Structure:  Elgin discussed potential candidates who could fill upcoming vacant board positions.  He is having conversations with several people who are considering roles. Myers had some suggestions of additional people that could be contacted.  The hope is to have candidates join a meeting at a September or October meeting.

MPS Schools:  Elgin is working with MPS phy-ed teachers to get them to introduce lacrosse in their middle school classes.   To be successful, it will be necessary to get donations to supply equipment.  US Lacrosse could be an option to get a grant to cover equipment costs.  There also may be a need to get coaches to come in to help introduce the classes.

Fields:  Elgin and Steve Devereux have been in talks with other places where we could have practices and games.  There is a possibility to have some sessions at South High school.  Bryn Mawr is building new facilities that could potentially be used next summer. McCrae and Armatage are additional options.  While it may be difficult to get both boys and girls at the same location, the goal is to have individual teams at a consistent park.

2020 Season Offerings: As we are trying to finalize our offerings for the upcoming spring and summer seasons, it’s important that YLM and GNLL work together to ensure their schedules do not conflict.

Uniforms: Amy Neal is looking in to redesigning the uniforms for the future.  This would create a need to force parents to buy new uniforms, as opposed to using jerseys from last season.  Myers noted that the girls program would prefer to keep the style the same.

Budget: Slaughter noted that she signed our organization up with Quickbooks.  There are some issues with invoices from SportsEngine if they are missing information by season.  Bedeaux noted that there are some ways to look back at individual registration to pinpoint seasons.  There is $46,965 in the bank after payments to coaches and the picnic. The numbers do not include payments the fall program and fields from summer.  Elgin will follow up with the MPRB on final field information from the summer, including refunds for cancelled practices.

Future Meeting Planning:  Discussions will include 2020 offerings, plans for registration fees, cash flow, fields, final Dibs reviews, and open board vacancies.

Meeting adjourned at 8:39 pm.

Next meeting: September 19th, 2019 at 7:00 at SportsEngine.
